In 1969 the Federated Church of Bristol (which was formed in 1947 when the Congregational Church and the Methodist Church united) and the Community Church of Bristol (which was once the Universalist Church) combined to form the United Church of Bristol.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We believe in You, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God,\u00a0and to Your deeds we testify:<\/em><\/p>\n

You call the worlds into being, create persons in Your own image,\u00a0and set before each one the ways of life and death.<\/em><\/p>\n

You seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.<\/em><\/p>\n

You judge people and nations by Your righteous will\u00a0declared through prophets and apostles.<\/em><\/p>\n

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, You have come to us\u00a0and shared our common lot,\u00a0conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to Yourself.<\/em><\/p>\n

You bestow upon us Your Holy Spirit,\u00a0creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.<\/em><\/p>\n

You call us into your church\u00a0to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,\u00a0to be Your servants in the service of others,\u00a0to proclaim the gospel to all the world\u00a0and resist the powers of evil,\u00a0to share in Christ’s baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>You promise to all who trust You\u00a0forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace,\u00a0courage in the struggle for justice and peace,\u00a0Your presence in trial and rejoicing,\u00a0and eternal life in Your realm which has no end. <\/em><\/p>\n
